Sarrika is a Designer and Educator with a diverse experience spanning across industry and social sector. Her major areas of work include design research, visual communication, systems design & social innovation.
She pursued her Masters in Design from IIT Guwahati and Bachelors in Technology (ECE) from JIIT Noida. She has worked as a Senior Design Research Lead at Samsung R&D India (2014-2019). Her research on ‘Empathy’, “Designing Mobile Applications with Empathizing User Experience” was published in CHI '17: Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, ACM, New York, USA.
Further in search of a more holistic approach to design, she explored the intersection of Design & Ecology at various international institutions and platforms including Schumacher College in Devon,UK and Navdanya, Dehradun. She has also led and volunteered for various social projects at grassroots, igniting creativity and sustainable development through a community led approach to design. Her recent work includes conception and design of ‘Ekyam’, a social platform for collective local action for a non-profit organization - Drishtee Sustainable Communities, co-designed with rural communities of Assam & Bihar. She’s also a trained potter and a natural farming enthusiast.
With her passion for interdisciplinary and experiential learning, she aims to create a culture of education that promotes self exploration and holistic learning.
