Dr. Vanita Ahuja

(PhD, PgMP, MRICS)

Director

As Director, National Institute of Design Haryana, Dr. Ahuja looks forward to establishing a design learning environment that is global, creative as well as enables students to understand the requirements of society and industry.

 

With her educational background of studying Architecture from IIT Roorkee, M.Tech in Construction Project Management from IIT Delhi and PhD from Queensland University of Technology, Australia,

she has +25 years of industry and academic experience in the area of Built Environment. Her industry experience has been through projects of varying nature like residential and school projects, commercial and infrastructure projects including Delhi Metro project. Before starting her journey as a full time academic, she taught at prestigious institutions in the country as Visiting Faculty and contributed through Executive Development Programs at National level for private as well as government executives.


She has contributed in policy making at National level through contributing in and leading the working groups drafting codes for ‘Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)’. She has actively volunteered for Project Management Institute (PMI-USA) at national and global level and is passionate about conducting multi-disciplinary research with global and local focus. She fervently believes that industry academic collaboration is important and needs to be strived for. Also, education should lead to all being empathetic to the requirement of a sustainable social structure.

 

She has been a recipient of awards for academic and professional excellence. Recently she has been awarded by Project Management Institute (PMI-USA) with PMI Eric Jenett Project Management Excellence Award 2020.

 

At personal level she is an avid reader, a sports enthusiast and her travel bug has also taken her to Antarctica.
