Brief Introduction

Ratan Singh is an Associate Senior Designer in the Communication Department at the National
Institute of Design (NID), Haryana, with over 12 years of professional experience spanning design
education, visual communication, animation, and creative practice.

His academic background reflects a distinctive confluence of fine arts, animation, and design,
culminating in a Master of Design (M.Des.) in Animation and Film Design from the IDC School of
Design, IIT Bombay, preceded by a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Painting from Indira Kala
Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh.

His principal areas of teaching and research include Animation and Film Design, Craft
Documentation, Visual Storytelling, Motion Graphics, and Children’s Book Illustration.
His creative contribution was recognised by NCERT with a National Award for Animation Film at the
All India Children’s Educational Audio-Video Festival–2017. His professional association with NCERT
has also included serving as a resource person and consultant for various e-learning initiatives,
particularly in the areas of children’s educational films and book illustration.

Over the course of his professional career, he has worked across diverse institutional and industry
environments, including the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Centum Learning Ltd. Bharti
Group–Airtel, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and XSEED Education.

Since 2018, he has been actively engaged in design education. Prior to joining NID Haryana, he served
at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Amity University, Noida, and the University
of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun.
